Sudden Jihad Syndrome in SanFran?
Apparently, a man in a small SUV ran down 14 people at twelve locations:
One person was killed and at least 14 injured when a man reportedly intentionally targeted pedestrians with his sport utility vehicle on both sides of San Francisco Bay this afternoon.According to San Francisco police, the driver, a man from the Central Valley, was in police custody. CBS 5 reports the man has been identified as Omeed A. Popal, who has homes in Ceres and Fremont.
The spree apparently began around noon in Fremont, where the driver hit an unidentified man walking along the side of the road. He was thrown off the road and pronounced dead at the scene, Fremont police said. Witnesses said the driver did not slow down.
Hugh Hewitt is collecting datapoints that this might be SJS:
Four callers have confirmed that without doubt this is a Jewish neighborhood, and that one of the victims was run over in front of the Jewish Community Center in the area.
...
Look on the web! the JCC located at 3200 California St. Site of one of the attacks: 3250 California ST.
Yup. looks like Sudden Jihad Syndrome strikes again.
Update: You know how this would be reported if SF were in Iraq?

This is happening in Canada as well. On the afternoon of August 9, in Calgary, Alberta, as the sidewalks were full of poeple waiting to catch buses home, a man Anis Omar (moved to Canada from Lebanon 3 years ago) "accidently" ran over 6 to 7 people on a sidewalk. One victim ended up in hospital with serious injuries. He claimed car troubles but when the police could find nothing wrong with his car, they charged him with careless driving, but he should have been charged with attempted murder.
I catch the bus at this stop, but fortunately for Omar I was on holidays when that happened. If i had been there, I would now be proably facing a charge for "carlessly driving" my fist into Omar's face as I "helped" him from the vehicle.
I'm not Jewish, I'm French Catholic, but I stand 100% behind Israel's defense from Iranian (ooops Hezbollah) tactics. I hope Israel bombs Iran's nuclear sites soon rather than waiting. Canada and the USA should help with this matter.
Story below from Calgary herald newspaper online.

The accelerator pedal pumped unexpectedly and he couldn't hit the brakes, says the driver of a car that zoomed up a sidewalk, swiped several pedestrians and slammed into a downtown building Wednesday.
Anis Omar, 29, said he was terrified as the incident unfolded on 5th Avenue just east of 6th Street S.W. earlier this week.
But he had no control as his car surged through the intersection, he said. His only thought was to avoid the cars ahead of him and the people to the side.
"The light was yellow, I was passing through the light before it came red. I pushed a little bit more gas. Right away the gas pedal went down all the way," he said. "I tried to hit (the brakes). I turned up the sidewalk because I couldn't handle the car, I couldn't control it."
Late Wednesday afternoon, the eastbound car skidded up the sidewalk, hitting several people waiting at a bus stop and repeatedly striking a downtown building before grinding to a halt.
"It wasn't just one bang, it was crash, crash, crash. I looked up and saw things flying, signs and everything," said Neelam Kassam, who was working at Urban Xpress on 5th Avenue when the accident occurred and ran outside to see what happened.
"Not only did he hit the pillar, it didn't seem to stop the speed of the vehicle. It seemed he hit every pillar, then slammed into the Scotiabank, and that's when it came to a stop," she said.
"You least expect it -- people waiting for their bus. Who would think it would happen?"
Omar, a stone layer who moved to Calgary from Lebanon several years ago, suffered a broken shoulder and several bumps and bruises from the incident, he said Friday.
Omar, who has been charged with careless driving, expects to be released from the hospital by today.

Interesting. It becomes an interesting strategy for the wily jihadi - have an "accident" which just happens to kill or maim your targets. Can't say for certain which of those this was, of course - but it does seem suspicious. Glad you weren't there that day!
